About Lawrence V. Najarian, M.D.

Lawrence V. Najarian, MD is a second-generation Armenian American, and the founder and Medical Director of the Bedminster Eye and Laser Center, Bedminster, NJ. A board-certified ophthalmologist, he has served Bedminster and surrounding communities for nearly 30 years.  He is a graduate of The John Hopkins University, University of Pennsylvania Medical School and completed his residency in ophthalmology at New York University-Bellevue Medical Center.  He received special training at Moorsfield Eye Hospital in London and completed a fellowship in ocular immunology at Emory University. For over 30 years, he has served as voluntary faculty, teaching ophthalmology residents at New York University and New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. 

Dr. Najarian has served as President of the Armenian American Health Professional Organization (AAHPO) since 2006. AAHPO is a multi-faceted, tax exempt, medical philanthropy that provides health education and health care services to underserved populations here and in Armenia. He was given this organization’s highest award in 2019. Dr. Najarian also served on the Board of the Armenian Eye Care Project, which honored him with a Silver Award for his service to patients.  Through these organizations he has led and participated in multiple medical missions to Armenia, facilitated the donation of a $1 million microsurgical training laboratory, helped provide training to physicians in rural villages and raised funding for tele-health programming.

Dr. Najarian is a proud recipient of the Ellis Island Medal of Honor. This highly prestigious award is given in recognition of significant service to local, professional and immigrant communities. In addition, he received the “Healer of the Year Award” from the Teaneck Chamber of Commerce. 

A lifelong Boy Scout, Dr. Najarian was honored with a Good Scout Award. At the young age of 13, he was elected to the Order of the Arrow and attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He served as assistant Scout Master and is the father of Eagle Scout Greg Najarian.

Dr. Najarian is married and the proud father of three adult children. For pleasure he enjoys being with his family, hiking, camping, kayaking and Scuba diving (PADI certified).
